So the other day while walking in the park that's a few blocks from my house instead of doing the typical "downhill" paths I used to take, because there's a duck pond at the bottom :), I decided to see what's uphill, I know its a huge park, 2nd largest in the city but I never went upwards, so going up I got to the highest point of the hill that I live on (with a blue water tower that I always could see from a distance) and what do I find but the nicest view of the city! Now sure there are a buttload of homes, but the view was great.

So I decided to go back today and try to take a bunch of pictures to make a panoramic shot, figured I'd cut paste, pull my hair out and have a really crappy version, well I decided to see if photoshop had any sort of helpful things.. and low and behold there's a function called photomerge! So playing around with it it put all 8 pictures together there are some diagonal lines where it "intelligently" tried to shade two areas together, but I was floored! Then looking closer I saw one picture was way out of place (the skyline of the skyscrapers) so I decided to do it in two parts.. well of course it couldn't figure out how to place the pictures.. *sigh* I knew there was a catch.. that is until I dragged and dropped the pics myself and the damn thing used some super computer algorhythm that'll surely be the precursor of the artificial intelligence that enslaves humanity and pulled my pic into place where it should be! There was a tree in both shots, WAMMO it sucked the picture right where it should be! THIS THING IS FRICKING GREAT! I found a new hobby, I'm going to do more and not just in 2 dimensions, I want to make a huge mosiac of pictures!

I took all the pics with my crappy 2 megapixel olympus D380, and while it is crappy I think for the size of the end result this more than enough.
Here's a link to the picture it's quite big, 7933 x 1354, I compressed it to 1.6megs too from the original 8megs but any further compression doesn't give a sizeable reduction of size while keeping usable quality.
So without further babbling, here's a view from the top of my park for all to see, it was a bit hazier than the first time, so you can't see the cargoships in the bay, but still for a first try it wasn't bad.

Edit:
Ok since apparently my picture was crashing some peoples computers because they have little girly men video card.. here it is shrunken down to 40% of its original size.. and yes I will mess up your message window :)
