dog washing

i have a maltese puppy and the vet said to wash my dog every 3weeks so i wont remove all the oil from his skin. is my vet correct? im using a oat meal shampoo and a natures miracle protien conditioner. how long do u guys wait to bathe ur dog?

Yes he's right. I do every 2 weeks.

Well every breed is different, but i bathe my shih tzu poodle puppy once a week. I dont think im over washing him at all, but your vet does have the license. Id look into maltese info more for a better answer.

Any more than once every 3 weeks will definitely dry out his skin, so what you're doing is fine. I personally only wash my dog when she gets herself actually dirty, but she's 85lbs so it's a little different, lol.

I hate to wash my huuge dog,but I wash it once a week,cause I need it to be clean

unless your dog is constantly rolling around in the mud, there is no reason to wash him or her once a week. Washing that often actually causes more harm than good. If you're washing your dog that often because of odor, it could be a sign of an underlying health problem that should be addressed by a veterinarian.
