Anyone have one or know the scoop on which one is the best buy? I today tried the the Tritton AX720. Holy CRAP. That was an amazing experience. It was like I was in the game. I loved it. I see the Tritton AX720 is the second most expensive one for $129. I see the other for $169, but don't understand what the "backlit Inline audio controller" is.

Anyone with experience or know some goods about them? Or recommend any others out there?

They look legit. I havent heard them in person or heard anyone recomend them. To me i would rather see you spend the money on some good headphones and just get a 20 dollar microphone as any 100-200 set of headphones will sound much better than these i would think. Thats usually the general idea when it comes to gaming headsets

I read a review for the logitech F540 two months ago that was really good. The guy had to unplug his surround sound because the headset surround was so good he kept thinking his system was still on. It's 149.99 at bestbuy but I saw a few go on ebay for around 100

Yes i saw those and liked those too. I really like the new turtle beach wireless red set coming out soon. I'm trying to get them for my birthday from my girlfriend. I have my consoles in our bed room and every night she says turn it down and can't stand playing games quite. I actually did not know they even made things like this til the other day I saw the tritton. It was amazing. I can play the game fun surround sound...yet she can sleep. Perfect.

I'm thinking either the tritton ax720.
Astro a40 (everyone tells me astro is top of the line but kind of pricey)
Or the turtle dock 31...

Anyone know if any shop has these set up so you can try them out?

what system are you planning to us it on?

I personally have the Triton AX Pro. i think i paid $170 for it, it works with PS3/Xbox360/PC and has digital inputs and dolby decoder on it. it's amazing on the minute sounds in the game. When you play first person shooters, you can hear bullets that fly pass you, and can hear people try to sneak up behind you. hehe...

There is another maker http://www.astrogaming.com/products/ make nice headphones.

Pmui, I am planning on using them for 360. The pro is nice, but I don't understand what the backlit Inline audio controller u get with the pro compared to the ax720. For 45-50 bucks more, is it really worth it for that one thing?

the only difference is the Pro has 8 speakers built in, the AX720 only has 2, do the sound is encoded/decoded with the controller. The backlit controller is just means when you play in the dark you can see the buttons.

Now have you tried the ax720? Is it a huge difference or....? I mean I tired the 720 and it sounded amazing. You could literally tell that someone is like behind you and to the left a bit shooting at you. How much more amazing could it sound?

I know that for the PC the astros are considered top of the line and the better astro has it's own processing unit and drivers, so it won't increase your latency.
i doubt the latency would be noticable. With the speed of the processors on the computer and decoder now days.

I did not get to try the AX720, it was not on display. I tried out the Pro version, and talk to a few people. Read the reviews. I can't imagine that 8 individual speakers in a headset would not be able to recreate the sound effects that was original recorded. I have to say the Triton line of gaming headphone will not disappoint you which ever one you get. I was you giving you info in the unit i have. :) The head phones is like having 8 speakers taped to your head :)

Well if anyone cares, I ended up going with the astro A40 wireless with the 5.8 mixamp. Even though they were more expensive, i figure i just cannot do wires. I play in my bedroom and lay in bed playing games, about 10 feet away or so. I can't have wires running to and from the bed to my tv. And if my girlfriend gets up in the middle of the night or my dog desides to get up and walks in front of the tv its going to get ripped out or pulled off my head and could break on the hardwood floor. So, I went with the wireless astro A40. From everything i could find and read and watch, astro seems to be top of the line quality. 5.8 hertz, 7.1 Dolby, bass controller, in game play / online chat sound adjuster, it's got it all. Ordered today, hopefully ill be seeing it in a week. And then the adventure begins! Lol
