I have sony m1 camera. It's ok but now I want to get into DSLR world. I think I am going to settle with Nikon D50, cheapest and good quality.

I was just wondering what you guys have? Anyone has D50 or D70s?

You should go to a place like B&H where they know about cameras and play with ALL brands before you decide on a manufacture or model.

Switching from a SONY to a Nikon DSLR will take some adjusting to.

BTW, I used Canon SLR’s for a long time and it was very difficult for me get use to a Nikon, I ended up going back to Canon on the DSLR.

I have a Canon 300D and 20D.

Rich, we should have a MR "Learn how to use DSLR day" at Jhale's place .

There are a few good photogs on MR but I am not one of them:lol:, I am sure they are willing to teach us for a few frags and beer.

aye, I could supply beer, but frags are all I have so far (and only 4)... things just starting for me.

But I would be into beer/pizza for camera lessons... And it would be a great chance for Savager to play with his new toy.

One thing about B&H though. The salesman, a young guy, pretty much had something bad to say about most of the cameras I was interested in, for one reason or another. He kept pushing me towards a camera or two that was double($700) what I was willing to spend. They guy next to him, when my guy went looking for something, said the cameras I was looking at were fine, he very much liked the one that my salesman trashed the most!

Can anyone say, "COMMISSION"?

Lesson: Don't take what one salseman says as the absolute truth. Ask around, do your internet USER review search, not the professional reviews, and try them all out to your satisfaction. That's what I did with my new Sony dsc-H1, then I bought it on Craig's list, new in the box!

I bought a lot of stuff from them in the last five years and I have never felt like they were trying to sway me on one product over another. The DSLR guys always have an answer to my questions during my multiple trips there before I finally bought the 20D. But I am sure not every sales guy in there can be stright up.

I've pretty much bought all my stuff at B&H, but all I'm saying is check around for opinions in as many places as you can before you make up your mind. They are STILL the best price around, and I have found them very helpful. You can fully explore any piece of equipment you are interested in. Usually. I just wasn't satisfied on wednesday with the guy who helped me, I did feel like I was getting nudged towards something I didn't go there to buy. That can happen at McDonald's, too.
