Mul-T-lock replacement

I bought an apartment over the summer that has a mul-t-lock deadbolt. The previous owner lost her authorization key.

Does anyone on here know of any places that will make me a copy without the authorization card? Preferably in Queens.

FYI, it is illegal for the hardware store to make you a duplicate w/o the card. I would recommend replacing the cyclinder. It cost 30 - 50 bucks.

Legally you won't find anywhere that does it. You need a replacement cylinder like cbr said.

Deadbolt cylinders cost more than $30-50. It may pay to just replace the whole lock if you're buying the deadbolt cylinder.

Since I do building maintenance for a living ....yes it is illegal for them to do it but if theres a hardware store that knows you real good speak with them ,if the key has a 20 or 50 on it they can do it on the spot. any other number on the key they would have to order it I haven't met a key I couldn't do a copy of from medico,multi lock,corban ruswin, arrow ...ect. But its up to you if it's just better to get a new lock or go thru finding a place that will make you that copy ..or just get it re keyed and that might cost more too .

If you take the actual lock into the store, they might be able to copy it. Go to an actual locksmith, not a hardware store.
