No experience with either. But did some reading on them when they were first tinkered around with; primarily for LED dimming I believe. A company called Reef Angel packaged it up for "aquarium usage" and included some sample codes, not sure if it'll help your efforts. But might be a good place to start, also there's quite a few posts on Nano Reefs for Arduino coding. G'luck!

I really like what they're doing, but their controller looks a bit difficult to work with. I like the idea of a fully open source controller with documentation on both hardware and software at a reasonable price. I also have some ideas for features that I'd like to see in a controller that I haven't seen elsewhere.

My thought process as well when I was considering it... but then I thought, do I want to muck around and beta test code on a vital piece of equipment for my reef? I suppose if you're using it for "non-immediate damage causing" equipment like lighting or a monitoring instrument like pH probe, it'll do just fine. But strapping an ATO/Heater that can cause ill effects almost immediately, I wasn't too comfortable.

Yeah, I've seen some of these projects, but no one seems to have organized a group effort with proper documentation and decent plans for one.

If I could get a few people interested in a collaborative venture, I think it may be worth giving it a shot. This is what initially gave me the idea:

It's not aquarium related, but a very well documented project with user forums and a storefront. I just bought one, and the capability is amazing. I'm in the process of putting it together, and I love the ability to add on as I want.
