Why not hit up Jones Beach?
Or go the exact opposite direction and head up to Bear Mountain. It's great there. Lots to do, walking distance to the Hudson. Make sure you have your camera with you. Nice photo ops.

Good luck, and enjoy the event.

Liberty State Park is nice. Heckscher out in LI should be good too.

Thanks, Just check both site, the Liberty State Park have no grill and I don't think allow to bbq, and the Heckscher, has tested positive for the West Nile Virus. :(

I was checking on the Spruce Run State Park, have you ever been there? Or any other park?

Thanks

Mak, just shoot them a quick phone call. I'm sure your questions can be answered in no time.

Contact Information for Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park:

The link above might actually answer all the questions you might have. It is very comprehensive. Keep me posted where you decide upon. I don't live far from Bear Mountain/Harriman State Park. I actually met my wife at the Inn at Bear Mountain. I guess it was meant to be.

Have fun,

HTH,

Wolfs pond is not as nice as Cheesequake. If you get there early enough you can just take over a section of grills and picnic area. The one by the lake is very nice and has lots of shade also. not only that I know where you can sneak into cheesequake LOL. It's right across the street from my house.

Then Robert Moses. At the beaches, they have grills in the picnic area. And the waters are beautiful right now. I like bbqing really early in the morning there. No one to spoil the scenery and it's really cool, not hot. No offense. :tongue1:

Eisenhower park isnt bad- call them and get a spot- plenty of parking right near the spots you get and they have last time I was ther plenty of the park supplied permanent bbq's and you can bring your own also and is also close literally within 1/4 mile of the meadowbrook parkway.

They have safety town with the little cars for the kids to drive and learn road safety and theres an indoor pool as well as a driving range, and a pond.

Spruce Park is actually in Clinton, NJ. If you're out by Clinton, there's also Round Valley Park; about 5-10 mins before Spruce Run if you're going from NYC. Be sure to check out one of Stewart's Root Beer stand if you're there... down the road from Round Valley. Many farmers markets as well...

I checked the Round Valley already, But I think still Spruce Run is a nicer place.. IF I do go to Spruce Run, maybe I can stop by the farmers markets on my way back to NYC. Where is the farmers markets anyway? :)

Thanks

I would check out Sunken Meadow Park I have held BBQs and get together there in the past with no reservations and had a good time.

They have a picnic area to BBQ near a playground for the kids, softball fields and open grass areas to set up a volleyball court or play some soccer. To top it off, you can walk to the beach from the picnic area.

Hope that helps . . good luck
