whats the millage of your ford ? btw do u want to go with rebuild or put in a used one

The milage on my ford is around 76,000 which is what is really upsetting with this trany issue.:letitallo
I'm looking more towards fixing the transmission in my vehicle if it will save me big time.

your best bet is just to get a used one it will be faster to fix then rebuilding it

Got you! If I knew where to get a good used one my son could take out the old one, and put in the new/used one. If he had a shop he could rebuild it too, but alas he doesn't have a shop.

BTW, I asked if I could save some $$ if my son would bring/and pick up the transmission out of my vehicle. They all said that cannot be done because once they fix it they have to reprogram my vehicle.

Check out these prices so far!

Ford $3789 w/3 year warranty = MOST DEFINITELY NOT

Neighborhood Transmission shops

$1890 dropped down to $1750

$1400

$2000

$1400, $1675 if it needs a new case 2 days in the shop. leaning towards this one.

I need to put this money together then wait 2 days at the least. God only knows how long I'll be stuck in my house.:bagfish: Guess I'll know how the fish feel now.:Blurp:

I know, but what choice do I have?:banghead:

I can't afford a car note at this time. Having a car note along with all the other bills is not pretty. Been there done that. I purchased my suv new out of the lot not even 8 years ago, don't drive much 76,000 on it, and the freaken trany goes.:banghead: Only way to avoid this kind of thing is to replace your vehicle with a brand new one a day or 2 before the warranty expires.;(

are you 100% sure it needs a new tranny

Without being a automotive technician I have to go by what the techs tell me. So am I 100% sure? No
But I do trust my son who is a AT, but unfortunately he does not have the means to take the trany out to take it apart in order to fix it.:( So we have to deal with the trany specialist.

Oh how I wish I could afford a "New" tranny.:tired:

What are the problems with the trans? Is it stuck in gear, no reverse, no drive? Pull the trans dip stick and smell the fluid what color is it what does it smell like? Whan was the last time the transmission was serviced?

I am a ASE Cert Master tech and 99% of trany issues do not need an expensive repair.
