Hello, Have been ecperiencing a problem with water clarity. Tank has been up and running for nearly 1 year. Locatedin a room that receives sunlight.
Fixed that prob. Do regular water changes of 60 gallons a week w/declored water. have a 1 month old proclear 125 & 175 running. also
have a aq500 and a large whisper. Waer perameters are in check, water just wont get clear. I really want too go reef again. Never had probs w/ lr
Just don't have the bucks to flip the tank right now !! Running 2 96 watt pc over tank for 8 hours a day. What's the prob, any ideas ? tried carbon w/ little result

Is it air bubbles or green water? In that pic. the tank look`s clear to me.....
Then again, that pic is from October...

How much carbon are you putting in there? Maybe not enough?
How frequently are you cleaning thew sponges in the filters and changing filter cartridges?

Are those Malawi? You could really use a bunch of rock in there to make the fish more comfortable :)

adding a 20.00 container of black magic around once a month, Have had tanks since a kid, 41 know, dont get it ! Water supply ? kids 20 gallon goldfish tank cool with 3 goldfish w/ a fluval 304 w, spraybar. Cant be water supply. Use a standpipe in overflows, no prefilter, Run felt in drip trays, Felt cleaned when needed, I'm pretty anal, every 2,3 days max.

if it is what i am seeing you have cichlads, why are you doing anything to the water ? cichlads like and do better in harder water, also what is the ph in the tank ? hopefully around 8.2 since seeing you dont have south american cichlads in there. and how much carbon did you use ? and what method did you use with it ?

tank

i kept african cichlads for abut 2 yr's before going to saltwater only water change i did was what ever water came out cleaning cc, i had to add about 5g a week from evaporation though, ran a rena xp1 and some hob filter, had crushed coral for substrate. the light you have might be too much also, i used a shop light as my lighting. back to the ph question, and why do you dechloranate the water ? here's a crappy pic of my 55g cichlad tank i had. oh and i did have a mated pair of south american jewels that i was told wouldnt survive with my other cichlads, they spawn every week
