any1 been there n recommend any nice hotel to stay or places to visit. i'm planning on a short trip(3-4 day) there soon.

The Georgia Aquarium should be shut down! What they are doing is cruel and horrible. You shouldn't patronize them with your money!
Instead you should go to a zoo. The Bronx zoo is lovely this time of year. They have a great polar bear exhibit.

The hotel that Macna picked is a W. Really nice, but really expensive.
I've stayed at the mariott/crown plaza downtown. It's okay, just not much around. except for Mary Mac's Tea Room
but there's always cabs.
How's this for a reef tank?

It's true. It's not a public aquarium it's private. There's no difference between them and petco.

Just like the petland on Flatbush Avenue. They don't care about the animals they care about selling tickets. No different than an LFS.

Did you guys here that there might be a private aquarium in Meadowlands NJ. THe sports complex they are building Xanadu. Indoor ski and sports facility. They are also wanting to open a private aquarium. They have not put it on the website yet but it was in the local nj papers that they are seeking approval for it.
I'm all for private aquariums as long as they are responsible.
In the case of Atlanta I think the whale shark exhibit is a huge mistake.
The aquarium in Chicago did the same thing on a smaller scale with
Beluga whales. People protested the capture and keeping of them, the
aquarium snuck them in at 3 in the morning. Several of the whales died
shortly after that.

i still think your money is better spent going to see polar bears kept outside in the open air this summer.

See contrary to popular belief, even though they never see it in the wild, polar bears like 90 degree weather. It's like vacation for them.

Georgia Aquarium is owned by the same guy or guys that own Home Depot. I think it's just one of the 2 partners that started it.
