Just thought I would share some pics of what my typical Saturday night has been for the last year.
We are a year into a $60 million project to build a new ventilation plant for the MTA on 30th St. between 6th and Broadway.

BTW. All this steel was set by hand by my four man crew and myself. Besides being set into the hole with a crane, everything was moved by hand using chainfalls and come-a-longs.
Notice that the tracks of this machine are completely buried in mud.
I really get a kick out of this. This is a 50 ton telephone manhole that is being suspended in the air by a total of 10 1-1/4" rods.

Really the only thing holding this up are the threads on these nuts!
Just how high is this thing in the air? BTW: The lower pipe strut in this pic is 25 feet below the street.
