Could fishtown be up for sale?

This primariy a theory based on a few recent changes and newguy hanging w/ owner every time im in there (2-3 times a week)

1) Always see tall guy hanging w/ owner for over a month in close convesation, I mean every time, the new guy is taking stuff from tanks and other stuff etc.

2) New Physical tanks for corals and live rock. These guys havent had new tanks in 20 years!

3) All of a sudden I have people saying "Hi" to me. This is against Fishtown business policy to greet or polietly talk to customers. Either this is the armagedon or the business is being sold

No facts to this, but I have been going there a few times a month at LEAST for five + years, something is definitly up

maybe they hired a customer service consultant to help them get on track? Restaurants do this all the time.

They must have been reading a few coral websites. They're pricing is kind of educated now, although a little behind. I miss the times when they never knew what they had. 5 years ago when efflos became popular, colonies were selling up to $300. I went in FT and picked up two efflo colonies for $80 They used to have nice acro colonies for $30 etc...
I hate going in there and seeing a $600 ugly a$$ acan colony in their show/sale tank
Our vendors have much better stuff these days as well as better prices

I go there so often because its literally 5 blocks from my house and next to my bank. They suck in many regards but always have a good stock of fish. Most of the vendors are not as practical but would much rather give them my business.

As for them being sold, It almost appears as if the owner is walking him through the process of the business. Ive seen the ogre (owner) for many years, usually he just stands there growling and screaming at employees, but now hes walking around with some 6'6" guy every time im there massaging corals, giggling and showing him all this stuff. Honestly I care, and I guarentee any of the northern and easter queens/LI people would like a nice local LFS to go to with as large of a livestock selection as they have/had. This place has a ton of potential if someone with even decent manners takes it over.

Im sure your location makes this irrelavent to you but Im sure others who dealt with their nonsense can see the significance

I care, this store is close to me and its where I started my reef, and I still go there even though I know Manhattan Reef people have had fights there for trading corals outside the store entrance.

I hope the place does get sold. Unfortunately I helped start their salt water tanks in about 1972. They were the first place I knew of in Queens that had salt water fish. Before they opened I had to go to downtown Manhattan for a blue devil.
It would be nice to have a new place there, maybe with some new people.
I hear a lot of horror stories from people that go there.

I used to go there alot since my mom lives about 6 blocks away from that place. But ever since I heard they have issue with asian people, I am not going back there. I am a asian american and I refused to go to the place where they don't appreciate our kind.

I have nothing good to say about that place but the truth is they have the lowest prices on livestock though its not in the best shape
