Every night, before the shift starts, we give a safety talk to the men. Every night ends with,"Watch each other's back on 6th Ave." We had heard of the accident that had happened last week on the Grand Central and had brought it up to the guys a few times, trying to reinforce the idea the **** happens.

Well I found out last night the man that was killed was a friend that we had all worked with in the past. When I started this current project, I tried calling Vinny to come back and work with us. He declined because he had just gotten promoted a few days earlier. I spent the whole ride home this morning wondering "what if". I had meant to call him a couple of weeks earlier then I did, just kept forgetting.

So like the signs say "Give us a Brake"

not top get all philosophical and all on everyone - but this school of thought is called determinism - where people believe that things in life have a design larger than we can imagine - so, that was probably his "time"

Timber, no disrespect to a fellow worker - I know how much it sucks to lose someone close, so abruptly - especially with children on the way (as well as in tow).

Dude, what does that mean? What reason can you think of?

Jim,

I'm with you. You can't put any merit in "what if" theories. However, I do subscribe to the schools of "**** happens" and "Sometimes your in the wrong place at exactly the wrong time."

Steven I wasn't blowing this off as a whatever type of thing. A tragedy like this sucks.
