If you're willing to drive 5 hours, check out Fair Haven Beach State Park. Its large, uncrowded and beautiful. It is on Lake Ontario and has a white sand beach.

North South Lake in the Catskill Mountains. Its about 2 hours away straight up the thru-way. Its right before Hunter Mountain. This place is very nice and is family friendly. There are many trails for all levels, two beach fronts, non motored boats, fishing, etc...

The last time I went (last July) the main road that leads there was damaged by flood waters. The detour around the mountain took over an hour!:tired:

You can also try Stokes Forest in NJ near the Delaware water gap. It too is a nice camp site.

*Then again, they may no longer be good places since I posted the information for all of you guys to see. :knockedou

Looks like North South Lake is the one. Last time we went camping was at Kittatinny campground. It was pretty good, we're just looking for something different and a little better.

I would love to backback and camp, but the wife would not be into that, nor drive 5 hours to camp.

We're also bringing our dog, North South Lake allows them, so that works out.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe we should do an MR campout sometime.

:eek1: What the heck is all this? Acrades, outlets, internet, ?!@%!! That is not camping!

As for the Adirondaks, I hear they are beautiful. Was supposed to do a canoe trip in the Saranac last year that go cancelled due to the last minute decision of my young sister in law to join us - black flies and teenage girls just dont mix.
