Anyone in the forum own one? I am thinking of purchasing one as that is the family pic ( i chose american bulldog, boxer, rotty, or lab and lost)
i have owned an english bulldog before and know very well what i would be getting myself into, so i am not looking for a lecture from anyone on why i should avoid the breed ect....just advice on where you got your puppy from, as always, thanks in advance

I always wanted a english bulldog but I never agreed with the prices. This coming from someone who paid over $8000 on a neopolitan mastiff straight from italy. There health issues always concerned me. Plus I could do without all the farting and burring and gasping for air. My wife did have a french bulldog and I hate to admit it he was pretty cool for a little guy. Very loving and loyal. He would get mad at me when I kicked him out the bed when it was time for me to have "alone time" with my wife. Depending on his mood he would tear up a shoe, tear up the garbage or even sometimes leave me a little present on the floor when I woke up and had to go to work. All in all he was a fun dog and very smart. Miss the little sucka

English bulldogs are so expensive partly because of the artificial insemination and c-section needed to breed them. I had (and will get another) olde english bulldogge they are so much better and despite being rare cheaper.

nothing wrong with them, my wife doesnt want a larger sized dog is all. we dont have a fence on our property (yet) so a bigger dog that requires some exercise would force the fence to happen sooner than later. The frenchie seems to be a good fit for us and wont overpower the house.

we own two of the french bulldogs , both where rescue's and free. Before you pay for a dog look around put the word out and wait a little bit and a dog will come to you.

Now regarding the breed. This is not like an english. they are more like a english mixed with a chihuahua. they still fart burp and slobber dont get me wrong, but the also screech, spit and jump. they are quirky and jumpy and often little ****s who start fights with giant mastiffs and squeeze under the fence top bark at a child on a bike.

they dont go outside when its hot, or when its cold. they tire quickly but can stay up akll night crying if you don't let them into the bed. they are meant to sit on laps and keep feet warm at night, and that's about all they are good for.

This is a dog that will lure you in with cuteness and then sneeze in your face. It has almost no redeeming qualities and is nearly useless. it sleep and sits between my wife and I like some kind of gassy chastity belt. I would highly recommend them.

The invisible fence does require you to take time and train the dog. It's not plug and play. Also if your dog is stupid (or smart depending how you look at it) it may learn that the collar only zaps for x amount of time. We had a dog who would creep up the boundary, pause, walk across, start convulsing from the shock and 10 seconds after bolt off running.

Don't waste your time with the wireless ones. I've tried it and it's useless. You set the unit in your house and it creates a circular boundary that you select, a 200' diameter for example. Depending on your property that 200' diameter may give you on 50' In The Backyard And 150 In the front which may also include your neighbors yard. Plus the thing is wacky, the range would go in and out. I remember the poor dog sitting on the couch and all of the sudden getting zapped. After a week I packed it up and returned it. It wasn't cheap either.

I hope this doesn't mean you will abandon your fish tank. I know another guy that got a dog and now I never see him on here anymore! Hello Andy are you out there?

Good Luck. You sure you don't want a greyhound.

I have two Frenchies. With all due respect to Arati they are great dogs depending on what you are looking for. If you want a dog to jog with or who goes hunting with you then, no, these are not your dogs. But they are very fun and funny and playful. I have a small house with a nice sized yard and these guys are in and out through their dog door to greet people or play with each other all day, warm or cold. Except when it rains! And they do love to lay around on your lap and be petted. A lot. But a little lazy is what I was looking for. I had a Jack Russell before that and he wouldn't sit down for a minute. So if you understand the breed traits and that is what you are looking for then they might be perfect for you and your family.

They do have the bulldog traits of snorting, farting, etc and they do have some health issues you should research. One of mine has flaky skin, the other gets red paws from TrueGreen's grass treatments. One does jump on people when they first come in the house but that's due to poor training on my part, plus they calm down after five minutes anyway. Overall they have been and are fantastic and fun.

Being local look at Frenchie Connection in Staten Island. I got one of mine there and she is seriously the Best. Dog. Ever... Great looking and great temperament and they have some great colors.

Good luck with the search, I'm happy to try and answer questions if it's helpful.

I have it for both of them. Pets Best insurance. Not cheap but they added "hereditary" issues coverage so it might be worth it. I didn't have it on my Jack and that cost me a fortune toward the end so I got it right away on these two.
