iMac question

My computer died yesterday. So I decided to buy new iMac computer. It's going to be 20" iMac, $1699 but I am going to bring my friend who is a student so I am hoping to get a student discount.

Anyway, anyone using this new mac with intel chip? I am going to upgrade it with 1gig memory and get Parellels Desktop program. This program let you install Windows XP and use it as virtual desktop.

Please let me know how you like this computer.

If you want to run winxp you dont want to run it virtual. Download "bootcamp" from apple. Its still in the beta edition but works like a charm.

Unlike other emulated program to run windows, it's directly running windows under apple os. No slow down.

I think its an okay set up, i wasnt to impressed by it, esp the design- (but presentation counts for me). I personally wouldnt want to run windows, b/c i dont like it but i've heard it runs great if you do what herman said- and he's correct that its in the beta stage. Your friends student discount wont be much i can promise you that. i think its 10% usually.

I'd recommend the Macbook Pro, i love it or if u can afford it the quad g5.

ive got the new macbook and an old g4, dunno what i'd do if i were still running windows lol

I just ordered one from internet. There's new ipod deal as well so I ordered 30G Ipod too. I upgraded to 1 slot 1gig upgrade, I was hoping for 2gig but I can add that later.

Anyway, they said it will take 2 days to deliever so let's hope I can get it by Thursday. Woohoo.

I am sorry, I want the new mac with intel chip. I am going to get brand new sony laptop from my friend, he can get really great price and I can trade in my old laptop for it. Anyway, I think I am all set for this new computer stuffs.

Can't wait to get it. Now it looks like I am going to get this computer next week. I saw the est date, it is going to be next week. Wish me luck
