Need help setting up web server

I am trying to build a website for a student program I am doing and I got an unmanaged openvz server but am having trouble setting it up. I had someone helping me but now they are too busy and the program starts in two weeks. If anyone has experience in setting this sort of thing up I would really appreciate it.

they use cpanel, you can just add a domain, then give the students FTP to sub directories.

Thanks but I already have the space however it is unmanaged. I tried setting it up but got in over my head.
