I am usually good at math but this problem is just confusing me since there are no numbers. It is part of a practice exam for a college math placement exam.

You can't plug in variables on a standard graphing calc.

If it was derivatives the answer would just be C. But it should clarify that if it was a derivative problem.

After finishing the test this is the only one I got wrong and the correct answer is 0. I still don't understand how it works though.

The reason the answer is 0 is becuase of the multiple "low points" on the curve. If "C" was anything but 0, there would be no low points and the graph would be more in an S shape.
