My beautiful baby girl Yava has gone on over "Rainbow Bridge":sad2: where I hope, and pray she is with Nehron. I acquired the both of them from different NYCACC months apart. They grew up together, and were the best of friends.
Never had anything but fun together those two.

Yava was my silly girl, my lovable girl, my scary looking girl who wanted nothing but to kiss, and hug everyone, and anyone that would give her the chance.
Walking her was like walking a kangaroo. The entire walk she would continuously jump on me driving me nuts. Oh how I wish she were here to jump jump jump.:sad2:
Yava apparently was what is called a bad breeding. She was born with deformed rear legs, totally knock knee. She was then discarded like garbage. I found on her on the web where I fell totally, and 100% in love with her. I drove to the Staten Island NYCACC after begging the supervisor there to please please hold her for me. The lady finally agreed to hold her for me til the next day. My youngest son, and I drove to the shelter. The lady greeted us, and went in the back to get Yava. When she came in to the room with Yava, Yava leaped from her arms right into my arms as if she knew who I was, and was just waiting for me to come get her. BTW, after leaping into my arms I felt this warmth.lol Yup, she peed on me. We brought this cute little 2 month old baby home with us. Then the adventures began... She was a small to medium Pitie girl who struck fear into grown men's hearts. When we went for walks men would tell me she looks awfully mean. One even stopped his car to tell me so. I use to laugh, and tell them yeah she is vicious. If she gets a hold of you she will kill you with hugs, and kisses. Not a mean bone in her.
After Sandy came rolling through, a short time after Yava developed what I thought was an infection on her thigh due to all the muck on our streets. I began treating her myself with antibiotic pills that a nurse friend got me, and rubbing a medicinal ointment on the leg. The swelling started going away, but then I noticed that there was something hard in her thigh. I took her to the vet last week Friday. The vet told me "your dog has cancer, and doesn't have long to live. Maybe a week. Take her home give her pain killers, feed her what ever she will eat, and say good bye.":sad2: She did good for a few days, but this past Wednesday after she had diner she began acting differently. She would sit, stand, lay, sit, stand, lay over, and over. Then she got up off of her bed, and went to lay in the kitchen on Athena's blanket, and began doing the same thing; sitting, laying, standing over and over. I sat with her petting her, and letting her know how much I loved her. I knew the time had come when I could no longer keep her living just so that I wouldn't have to make the awful decision. I told her about "Rainbow Bridge", and that Nehron would meet her there, and that it was okay for her to go. Yesterday morning we took the awful last trip.. I pray she is now no longer in pain...
Good bye my faithful loving friend! I will miss you forever, but you will forever live in my heart!!!

Awi , take pride in yourself for treating your girl with love and affection the way that a true pet lover and owner does.

In this time of solitude keep in your heart her affectionate ways and her loving bark, your sweet girl is no longer in any pain, no longer in need of anything that the good lord won't give her in that peacefull dog walk in the heavens .

With that said I offer you my deepest sympathy and I hope you get through this knowing that you will never forget her and she will always be with you .

God bless and be well .

:sad2:But grateful to ALL of you wonderful people! Thank you for all your kind words; they mean so much to me.....:grouphug:
I can't read anything to do with my girl that don't start the rivers of tears flowing! I know in time I will stop the tearing, and crying as this is not my first fur baby that I've HAD to say good bye to. Although I know that the little empty spots in my heart will forever stay as such. Each of my 4 babies have those special places that never get filled, but I just think of the day I became their mom. They gave the love right back instantly. I never had to work at earning their trust or love despite the fact that they were all dumped in the shelters of NYC by their previous humans.
I sincerely hope that there is a place where they go to when they leave this place to never need nor want for anything. I also hope to one day be with all my fur babies who loved me so unconditionally... I couldn't give them the best, but I gave them love!!!!!!!

Sorry Awilda, maybe it's just me knowing the breed enough to know body language but she never struck me as looking mean. And then she let my 2 into her house with 0 aggression as well. R.I.P Yava. Enjoy the bridge with your now perfect limbs and body until you see mom again.

so sorry Awi , thank you for blessing them with your care.

Take all the time you need to grieve , but please find the will to adopt again. I don't have to tell you how important and rewarding it is.

God bless and speed them home.

we lost our kitty this week and a friend told me that it must be that the children in the CT shooting must have needed a kitty to be with them. I am betting they needed a pup too.

Thank you guys!:grouphug:

Arati, the Newtown angels have a wonderful pup then! Yava loved children very much!!
I don't know about adopting again.

we buy these animals knowing they will be with us a short time. its sad every pup i had to say goodbye to.

James, I adopted my fur babies! Yes, when we get these "animals" we know it is for a short time. Problem here is that through all my research prior to adopting the pittie babies I read in several places how strong & healthy American Pits are, and that they could possibly live up to 25 years. Because I had to say good bye to many others due to old age at what I considered to be middle age I looked for a dog that would live longer then 8 or 10. But both of my pitties died way to young. I do not consider 6 or 8 years old age.
My wolfdog who was also adopted some 41 years ago from the Manhattan ASPCA on 92 St. lived to be at least 16 years old!!!
