After the last storm and the problem getting fuel. It is a good idea to look for alternative fuels.
I am actually buying a new generator that will work on Tri Fuel, meaning that it can take Gasoline, Propane, or the BEST! Natural Gas.
But you do not need to get a new generator for this. As long as you have gas at your home, you can actually convert your generator to natural gas.
You can buy a conversion kit, where it is actually fairly easy to install it (as long as you do not have to modify the unit at all).
The kit basically just installs in between the carburetor and the air filter.
The kit can be found at http://www.propane-generators.com/
There are a couple other sites out there that you can get them from. Their website SUCKS big time. But you can also YouTube videos on them.
Natural gas is first of all cheaper, and for anyone who has natural gas at their home, is for the most part endless (rarely do nat gas lines go down). It also burns cleaner. The other huge benefit is that you will not have gasoline in the unit (well unless you need to put it in there), gas is evil on machines when you do not take care of it, it can gum up over time.
I also in no way have anything to do with that company that I mentioned so this is not an ad for them.
