How many think (I do just to to clarify why I'm asking) that the age of smart phones and laziness has made the general population completely forget, or care about the punctuation that our teachers and school system fought so hard to teach us?

I'm just saying this because more and more on ALL forums I belong to except for one -my boxer dog forum- periods, commas, correct grammar as well as paragraphing have seem to become a lost art. More and more posts seem like you're not even reading English. I'm not bitching, just wondering other people's views on it is all.

In my opinion, it's VERY important. To me it's a representation of the person posting. Occasional typos/mis-spelling happens, but the bulk of what's going around... utter mess.

Oh and putting Lmfao at the end of each sentence and/or post isn't an excuse or a re-direction of the true intent.

It's definitely important to me. When I'm accessing MR and other local boards, it's usually on my phone more than a computer, and I will admit- it's more difficult to type correctly with a phone, but I make it a priority.

On a side note; there are many people in the NYC area who speak English as a second language, so I try to remember that and be patient.

No cmantis. Don't take it out of context. I do it myself a lot because as stated above I'll miss the period button or what else and when I proofread my post I think someone else typed it.

Sometimes I'm utterly lazy and don't fix them all since the phones can be a PITA to navigate to fix typos.

Also boxer DOG as in woof woof, not left, right.

The majority of them are women that are a bit older and never on their phones and always on a normal computer as well as come from a time where you make sure every detail is right before you ok it to be read by anoyone else.

I just will read what I wrote sometimes and because myself and I'm sure many others wind up relying on that damn autocorrect when it doesn't fix the word or better yet turns super duper into supercalafragilisticexpialisocious and we don't reread, just post it looks like OMG.

And let me say this as well, there is no group that I would disrespect by saying another group is> than them. The ladies on the boxer forum just seem to proofread the you know what out of what they write is all.

I'm on board totally Eric. Actually their posts are sometimes more on the money.

The whole point behind the thread is that I have come to NOT trust that damn autocorrect, especially after looking at www.damnyouautocorrect.com!

Yeah it has made us all digitally brain dead , I mean my wife is a teacher and she's always correcting my grammer , however I do believe that if you can't spell or write you better know how to speak at the very least!! And that in itself is a lost skill as well do to people texting more and talking less!! Lol

Even at my old job (FDNY) I hear that at the kitchen table during dinner and lunch instead of the verbal ball breaking there's 10 guys having 5 different conversations without words being spoken, they're all texting each other from across the table!!!!!:smash::smash:

Does anyone else struggle with their GPS in Queens? Mine is absolutely terrible, especially when the numbers start with "10-10" etc... The best I can do is get to te neighborhood using gps, and then follow the street numbers
