Anyone, personally know someone who got hit my the DNS changer trojan?

The media and FBI make it sounds like such a big thing but so far I heard non of contacts have been hit.

Wingo this DNS changer has been around since forever. I've been battling this thing for a few months now. It's just a TDSS root kit, use TDSS killer, choose the advanced options and choose TDFS file system, run it multiple times and you'll get it all

Macs don't get viruses is the biggest industry lie ever! Dude look at your latest Mac update download. They've included a malware remover and protector. Why would they do that if the mac doesn't get viruses? Because macs are grabbing a larger portion of the workstation market share and virus makers are jumping to rape macs. There are some out there already that use a security hole in java that can run code on your Mac. Don't believe the hype sir!

I have owned my Mac for 4 years and haven't had one issue with it. Not one. My pc's even win subscribing for Mac afee and norton and a few other protections still got the blue wall of death in 1/4 of the time that I have owned the Mac.

I don't want to start a debate on what's better. Each one has it's benefits and it's draw backs. Macs will never be as upgradable or modular as a PC and PCs will never be as stable as Macs because they are super modular.

I think it's all a personal preference and since everything is web based now anyway it doesn't matter what you use.


I'll tell you like I tell everyone; don't believe the hype that macs don't get viruses because they do and will be much more common very soon.

Also blue screens of death most times have nothing to do with viruses and more to do bad software/hardware once again due to the PCs modularity.

I never said macs were perfect or impervious. I just know it's 10 times more convenient for wverything and I havent had a problem iwth it. Als it was a comment in a lighthearted way to Wingo. Not to start a debate on computers.

Oh I agree forte majority of users at home a Mac is a far more convenient product (once you get over the learning curve of using the OS) than a windows PC. The only home users I think that need PCs are super power users or gamers. But if your deal is surfing the web, email, YouTube and watching video macs are so for you.

sounds to me like you don't put your self out there either so that would explain it. I have plenty of older family members that do the same on a windows machine and haven't had anything either.

It all depends on what you actually do with the computer.

What do you mean I dont put myself out there?

I've had multiple pc's with windows programs and they sucked. Vista BLEW XP was the only one I like after '95

No pc's come with anything close to imovie in my opinion.

I also like that apple automatically lets you know there are updated versions of their programs and all you have to do is choose to download it and restart your mac.

Again, just my opinion- I like my MAC 10X more than I liked any of my pc's I had in the past, including the computers I used in the military when were the division that first fielded VTC--Video Teleconferencing and got it operational and ready for the battlefields during Force XXI at Ft. Hood. GTE and Cisco worked with us and we were using their equipment.
Out of any computers I used MAC is by far my favorite. I've put myself out there plenty.

Oh jimmy! XP let you know when it needed updating and if they made Microsoft equivalent software for stuff like iMovie and garage band they would automatically update.

Vista was a huge POS that turned a lot of people to the Mac and rightfully so. HOWEVER Windows 7 IMO is better then any MS product released to date. We'll see how Windows 8 does. I think he meant by putting yourself out there; that you don't go to dangerous sites.

What people don't realize is Windows as a whole doesn't have as many security holes as people think. It's the software it allows to be used that have the holes; like take java and flash for instance. These two "technologies" have been responsible for the most virus infections ever and sadly people still use both for website design. It's horrible, java is even responsible for the first modern Mac viruses.

I had moviemaker on my old pc but I likeImovie so much better but thenagain that moviemaker was a long time ago.

LOL! Movie maker was ancient!!
Made by ms and great when it first came out. iMovie is awesome and so is garage band. But dammit for the money they better provide you with damn good software!
