MOtorcycles? In NYC anything less than a 750 is suicide. Had a vulcan 500 and was almost road kill everytime I rode in to work. It was like I had a bullseye on me especially with the taxi cabs.

Why it didn't have enough power to beat them?

Jose,

Nice ride - I am not too fond of the craftsmanship (or the aerobars - you won't be able to road race with them on) but the rest of the bike looks pretty good,

Lemme guess $1250? I probably could have gotten you a better deal on a CAAD 8 - hope it works out for you. BTW, whats the final weight, I am going to guess 24lbs+

7 years of racing (was the manager of a 27 man and woman team that competed all over the US) training for cross country trip, for peak professional performance etc.

My best race ever - Tour of Sommerville - Pro-Am - placed 38th out of 180 - race was 62 miles and our finish time was 2:02:08 Do the math . . . . .

awesome on the time for that race!!!more or less an average speed of 30mph, pretty bad ass!!!

i got the bike on ebay new for $780 shipped. any other equipment you would recommend getting for this bike??i know i'll need a helmet, lol, some leds for the back, water bottle, flat repair kit, pump, and some reflective gear for latenights (lmk if i missed anything). i'll be using it to ride into work also. definately doing the five borough tour next month, going with a few guys from work.

Looks like you'll need the following:

- a pair of SPD road clipless shoes
- a helmet
- A frame mount zefal (HP) pump with velcro strap to hold pump onto frame - it would fit between the seat and the handlebar traingles. DO NOT cheap out on one of those compact mountain bike pumps - they are worth the crap and you'll expend more energy trying to pump than you will getting air into the tire.

You also need an under seat mounted pack that should have the following:

- 2 spare tubes (brand new out of the box)
- A patch kit that can do at least 6 patches
- a set of tire levers (takes the rubber off the rim)
- a 2" section of tire cut in a square in case you slice the sidewall of your tires - first off, happens all the time in NYC (read 5 boro's here) with metal sticking out all over the place and last thing you want is a slice in the sidewall with no way to hold the tube in the tire. That, my friend, is a long walk home.

You should also get a pair of padded gloves (I recommend Perl Izumi's, but they are costly). Cannondale and TREK sell decent gloves.

Bottle cages and bottles (get the 27oz bottles, those little ones are only good for 45 minute rides and as you get more into it, you'll need to hydrate more)

I also recommend a riding jersey and shorts - I can certainly lend you one - I have about 20 of them sitting in set of drawers just waiting to be ridden. The shorts you should buy yourself - keep in mind, the cheaper you get on shorts, the more your b@11$ will hurt - so, Again, I only ride Perl Izumi Field Sensor shorts or microsensors are a decent substitute.

A cyclometer is a nice addition - if you can afford a good one, then get it, if not cheap out temporarily and invest in a good one in the near future.

You should drop by and take a look at some gear - wish I would have known, I have a nice fine piece of italian machinery sitting collecting dust I could have unloaded for 1/2 that price.

Good deal BTW, enjoy the speed going down 110 street Harlem hill in the park - I used to love that 44mph rush!

Keep the rubber side down!
