hi
i need some help picking the right stuff to start out with i currently have 2

FW'S one is 10 gal. with red tail sharks and a tiger barb. The other is a 30
gal. with 3 goldfish, pleco, 2 corey cats, 1guppie fancy tail, and a red tail
shark that was being harrassed in the small tank. Also me and my dad
setup 4 FW when i still lived at home. So i have no SW exp. I just
wondered across reefs.org the other day and got hooked. So down to
the details of what i would like to have and mabye some one could give
me some advice. I have been through the nano build off and got lot of
ideas and info from there. so if someone could tell me what SPS and LPS
stands for i would appreciate it. ok on to what i would like to have. Start
with at least 30 gal. glass tank with some shrooms and some corals that
look like tree branches. I would have 30 lbs. live rock mabye more and
at least 3" sand bed. i like stuff with a lot of colors. and the definate must
is 1 pair percula clowns and possobliy a type of cardinal and a yellow tang.
that would be all for the fish. The main thing is to have hardy items in the
tank to start then after i figure everything out I would like to get a host
anemone. as well as a clean up crew and mabye some starfish
So any feed back or links to helpful websites will be greatly appricated
also sorry about spelling i suck at it
so really i want to start out right and plan for any thing ending up in the tank

thanks in advanced

First of all :welcome:

I see that you have done a little planning 30gal would probably be fine with care taken for regular water changes and a hang on skimmer. This tank would be fine for the clownfish and the cardinals, however I and others would agree that it is a bit to small for the yellow tang. Sps is short for Small Polyped Stony Corals and Lps is short for Large Polyped Stony Corals. Your choice to start with Shrooms, or Zoanthids would be great as they are hardy and good beginner corals. I would probably start with a clean up/algae crew as soon as the rock cures (or recures depending on the type of rock you buy). I would also encourage you to read this site and reefkeeping books as much as you can. Have fun and happy reefing!
