Anybody have any experience with these guys?

http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumP ... lters.html

I'm accumulating parts for a 12 gal JBJ cube set up, so if I swap the EKIP 300 for the stock pump I'll get a little more flow PLUS heat.

I've seen recommendations to upgrade the stock pump to a Maxi-Jet 900 but have a Koralia Nano (240gph) and/or a Koralia 1 (400gph) as a secondary flow source.

Any thoughts?

Personally, I'd just get a Hydor Koralia and a separate heater. First, you may not need the heater at all, unless you keep your house pretty cold. Second, if one goes bad, you only have to replace the heater or the pump, not both. Lastly, you'll get much better flow with the Koralia. In the end, I think the price will be about the same to get them separately. As for the air diffuser, that's not going to serve any purpose whatsoever for a saltwater tank.

Sorry, I just re-read your post, and I guess you're just talking about the pump in the back chamber. I still don't think I'd go with that heater/pump for many of the same reasons. Just get a Maxijet 900 for many of the same reasons. Of course, if you're going to be adding either of the Koralia's, even that may not be necessary. My Aquapod 12g is just a softie tank, but all I use is a Maxijet 900, and that seems to be sufficient flow.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm leaning toward upgrading the pump, maybe not a 900 but something better than the stock one, and adding a heater.
