iam not sure weather to get a coralife 20w screw in light for my 2.5 for $20 or get the coralife 9w+9w hood for $30? witch would be the best light for some soft coral?(and what would be good coral options for the amount of light?)

thanks!

I'd go for the coralife. Not too much light since you are considering sealing the system, and it is actually shaped very close to the dimensions of the tank, looking somewhat like a canopy when you retro-fit it into place. 18w is enough to keep your standard pico fare, and the heat will be manageable.

I just put a Current Dual Satellite 2x18W PC fixture on my 2.5. Mooooooore light!! 8) But with more light comes more heat. I need to install a fan.

more light the better imo. i've seen 70W mh over 2.5g and it rawked!

the 2x9W coralife is ok but i agree with brandon's caution on temp.

another thing with the 9W setup is (i believe) their plug-in ballasts can handle up to 13W bulbs if you wish to upgrade later on. i believe it's actually rated for 16W or so. i've done the switch often with no issues.
