That would work. Just about any little piece of plastic will work. I attached mine to the back wall with some strategically placed 2 part epoxy. The pressure on the overflow will push it and hold it against the wall also.

I've had a cassette case on my Nano 12Dx for about a year now. I works great. The only down side is whenever you turn off the pumps for cleaning and water changes, it falls off. This can be a bad thing if it falls on you corals.

I bought a Nanoskim here on Ebay last week. Great product! It stays on when the pumps are off, and it has a critter guard to keep you fish/inverts from crawling into the skimmer. I got the skimmer less than a week after I bought it.

how exactly does that work? just curious how the water flows thru it to trap? Its kinda Kornfusing. :?

Yea it just works by sluicing the protein off the top of the water. One way this affects your nano is that the water in your "sump" or whatever/wherever the volume is behind/below the surface skimmer, it evaps quick. When I built one on my nanocube 12, i had to be more aggressive about top offs. It's great for a small tank tho, as actual skimming isn't usually appropriate.

so this is the inlet for a sump/refuge ?
