You jest, but I did once keep a tiny snail and a small sprig of glosso. in a shot glass. This was a "FW planted portable aquarium" ... it had a tiny substrate consisting of one small crumb of laterite under a tiny blanket of peat topped by like ... four ... grains of natural river gravel.

I took it to a movie once.

  • 10 Gallon
    12lb of LR
    1" of LS
    Bubble-tip Anemone
    Athelia Polyps
    Clown Fish
    2 Hermits
    1 Ateria(sp?) Snail
    1 Emerald Crab
Lots of extremely small brittle stars
    Unknown Snail hitchhikers

This tank has been up and running for about 2 years now. I do very little maintenance other than topoff with r/o water, and I do a water change about twice a year; no dosing. The lighting is two mini-pc 50/50's and the filtration is the LR and a mechanical aquaclear that I clean about once a month. I feed the clown fish and the anemone about once everyother week or so frozen mysis.

Over the years....

6 gallons w/perc clown and a yellow watchman goby which was added a few months later. This was moved into a -

7 gallon minibow and the clown jumped. Added a six line wrasse and a few months later a neon goby.

A few months after the 7 MB was running, I set up a 7.5 custom tank and added a baby clarkii clown and added a bi-color blenny.

After another year or so, I set up a 30 cube and combined the contents of the MB and custom tank. Still have the bicolor blenny and yellow watchman goby. The neon died a couple weeks ago, living to the ripe old age of 2 1/2 years. Typical for that fish from what I've read. Clarkii got traded in. Mean little B****.

I also have a 2.5 gallon tank that I've tried fish in twice with tragic results. I'm getting ready to rescape that tank and will be looking into more sexy shrimp.
