Hello, I am new to nano reefing and have a question on why my fish keep dying. The tank is 8 weeks old and i have the cleaners and a couple frags of coral which they are doing great, but this is the third fish that has died within 2 weeks and I can't seem to figure it out. Parameters look fine except pH is around 7.8 and I'm working on trying to raise it. If anyone else has to any ideas of the cause, please chime in, thanks.[/img]

7.8PH is a little low. My tank is currently running at 8.3 - 8.4 each day. Might have something to do with it. Try to buff it up.

raise your pH..check your ANN(ammonia, nitrate, nitrites) those are important factors..seeing how your corals and cleaners are still alive, im assuming they're at acceptable levels..however good to check..what kinda fish? you might be trying to add fish that cant survive in your system...your system is still in the maturing stages..ie mandarinfish, scooter blennies...

Thank you for the advice. I will try and raise the pH and see what happens. I will let the tank settle for a couple weeks if I everything seems ok before i decide to ad another fish, thanks.

Blurred, I looked for awhile but couldn't find the article link I was looking for. I still have a way to help though, let me ask Mr. Len if he can post a few links to Randy Homes-Farley's articles, you will enjoy learning about pH with these resources. I re-read them every few months to make sure I don't get rusty, pH/alkalinity dynamics are no walk in the park!
