Fish recommendations for a nano...

My girfriend will be setting up a nano soon and wanted me to ask you good folks about fish recommendations:

What fish would be happy and not get stressed out or unhappy in a 5.5 gallon tank?

What would be a good combination of fish that would be peaceful and happy in this size tank without overloading the bioload?

Firefish... my far and away favorite choice for little tanks. They stay in a very small territory even in huge tanks.

Stonogobiops spp. are a good option as well.
