What a setup Korbin, that is a fantastic aquarium

Anyone who sees that will notice the deep coloration and the superb SPS growth, what a testament to the actions of kalkwasser and strong lighting. This thread is a valuable addition to the Forum.

Gracias

Hey thanks for the great compliments!

I can't say I owe it all to kalk though. Even with kalk I have to add tons of baking soda/banking powder and calcium hydroxide. shhh don't tell :) I'm saving for a reactor.
The MH really does help like you said. This is my first tank thats not PC light, and my euphilias have just taken off.

Holy Crappola! 8O 8O 8O
Ok, this just another solidifying reminder that, like in all my other hobbies, aquaria can take any form or shape, and the potential to look spectacular and breath-taking is ever present!
Superb! Bravo! Way to use that sump-of-a-tank! :D

PS. 256 Posts! Now I have the same amount of posts as the capacity of each of my RAM modules!

Wow thanks guys

LordNikon - I don't know why the corraline is doing so well. To tell you the truth it hasn't been doing well lately. I over-calciumed and a lot of it bleached. Anyway, I use instant ocean and I suppliment with kalk and kent turbo calcium, and kent superbuffer or just baking soda. And I started off with really good rocks that had lots of corraline in the beginning. I really don't know what makes it grow faster or slower.

reefann - I have already had plenty of issues with the red bugs. They made all my regular acros (except the milliporas) almost completely stop growing. They live, but they don't grow, and they're not as colorful as they used to be. I'm going to try and eventually rid my tank of the infected acros and hopefully get rid of the bugs that way. Maybe I'll try dipping them. I only have a couple. But yeah, they suck. One of my acros had fluorescent green polyps and now they're just clear.

Update - I just caved and got a remora skimmer. I set it up tonight. :)

Thanks for the compliments guys! Looking back at the pics, I realized my black and white clown is turning more black. Its almost completely black now. Coolness.

I have bad news though. I have discovered that my orange montipora capricornus was infested with montipora eating nudibranchs. It has since died.

That's kind of the straw that broke the camels back. I'm sick of dosing calcium so much and fretting over my tank, so I'm going to attempt to turn it into a mostly ricordia/zoanthid tank. And my newest project is a quarantine tank.

moment of silence for the montipora please... :(

Sorry to hear about your loss, shoulda fragged him if you could. As for the calcium, I feel you have the perfect set up to drip kalk on top of your stand. Kinda hard for us with nanos to do that, especially us without sumps.
