just starting a 10g

I've just purchased a 10g tank and want to make it a saltwater tank. I'm going to buy a small penguin filter and some live sand to put in it. I've purchased a couple books and have read through them. I've got a freshwater tank as well. Will I need to have an air compressor w/ air stones in a 10g tank?

Nope.

Air stones generally don't make enough water movement for SW tanks, at least not one as big as yours. Better to stick with small water pumps/powerheads. Do you plan on keeping any corals, or just fish?

If you don't have it already, "The Coral Reef Aquarium" by Dr. Ron Shimek is a nice compact little book with lots of good info. Welcome to Reefs.org!
