Andy H,
I just got done reading up on the Aqua C, it really look's like what I want. The remora-pro will fit easily with the space I have on the back. I do have a mech. filter on it that I will relace. thanks again for your feedback.
Bill
I first would like to thanks all who replied. The reason why I haven't added a skimmer to this system is because it never needed it. I'm not able to keep up with the maintinence like I used to. This tank is now full of a combo of acro's and other softy's. Algae growth is beginning to be an issue...
I presently have two reef's. My main system is 13yrs old and I have a great skimmer on it. My question goes for my 65 gal hex. It's been up for 3 years now but I need to add skimmer. I don't have a sump on this set-up. I'm looking for feedback on piggy back skimmers, or something that I can use...
I add nothing to my tank. My system has a total volume of 180 gals and I change about 8gal a month. I use that water for my 65gal hex. I don't think its wise to add anything unless you can measure it accurately.

Ernie,
I can tell you first hand that they harm corals. About 5 years ago I had large green stylophora that lost about half of its structure. They also effected other corals but I eventually was able to get rid of them. Basically as they Multiple(very fast I must say) they encroach on living...
Once you have them they multiply. At first there no big deal but they will harm corals. As you can see cleaning you rock is a pain in the butt. Never mind now you will have to deal with some organic dye off which could result in an increase in nitrates. Hey try one Emerald crab. At least you can...
I haven't had this problem keeping them but it seems other have. Learn more about how bubble algae(Valonia) reproduce. this is why I've choose in my tanks to deal with them two fold. I also don't like the idea of tearing my tank apart. Years ago it was considerable easier do to the lack of coral...
I've never seen them bother any of my sps's or soft corals. In my opinion they don't get too big. I have seen them eat a snail or two which was lying upright. They don't bother the snails in general. My tank is very dense this why I use them.
I really like your tank, I also have some questions concerning your clams. When I first got into this hobby clams were always my favorite. I at one time had two 9" maxima's that were beautiful. But as time went on I acquire a few high end Crocea's and Maxima's and my clams seem to loose there...
Fill the basin with tank water and put the rock with the leather in it.Your not gonna be able to get all of them so I still reccomend getting some emerald crabs. I've always kept one or two in my tanks.
Bill
How bad is it? I've seen an army of 6 do a number on a tank that has a problem. Maybe you can remove and clean some rock and add a few emerald crabs. I would use a tooth brush and a dental scraping tool.
Bill
If your tank is not established then you can try to remove coral and clean it. I wouldn't use bleach. If your tank is established I'd add a few emerald crabs. They really do a good job, and I've never seen them harm any coral.
Bill
Ben,
I agree with Wade, if your gonna lose the whole coral its deffinitly better to frag it. The stress that is caused is minimal if its done quickly and a cleanly as possible. Are you doing any water changes? Did you decide to do any if so what size?

JimM,
I do have a sand bed and yes my tank is very healthy. My present tank was put up in 94. Before that I ran 180 with no sand and had great results. I am aware of alot of the data that is out there, trust me I don't think my way is the only way. I think that most sand beds in mini reefs have...
