  1. The dark side of reefing.

I know, too many are not learning anything about the hobby and it's long-term implications on the environment. One of the thigns I've enjoyed most about this board is the fact that I'm able to hear a point of view that isn't too often mentioned in my neck-of-the-woods. Angela <><

  3. Rock scaping

I think I need to add more liverock. :-) Those tank look great. How many of you had a pre-planned set-up? How did the final end up compared to the plan? Also, in what ways did livestock selection influence the set-up or did it? Angela <><
  4. Can Mushrooms Walk?

When I put in a green hairy mushroom it did the same exact thing. The guy who gave it to me told me that when HE got a green mushroom it disappeared for three weeks, showed back upa nd has beend oing fine ever since. So even though it's gone right now maybe it'll show back up, there no...
  5. Best place online to get tank raised mated pair of True Perc

I got a pair of false Percs from premiumaquatics.com and I would highly recommend them. mine were healthy, well-adjusted and very reasonably priced. Great service too. Just my personal experience. Angela <><
  6. Clown won't come down to bottom!

The "treading water" behavior IS normal for juvenile clownfish and isn't anything to worry about if they are healthy and eating well. My occelaris pair does the same thing but I'm sure after they've matured they will settle and choose a place as a home. Your's may or maynot adopt the anemone...
  7. Single True Percula OR Pair?????

I personally am very fond of clownfish pairs; the interaction between them is priceless. I would caution you to make sure that whatever you buy, single or pair, find out if they are captive raised or wild caught. Buy captive bred only as a farm bred fish will not develop some of the bacterial...
  8. Where to get best quality fish??

I have been very pleased with my clownfish from Premium Aquatics. (www.premiumaquatics.com) They were delivered quickly, acclimated very well, farm bred, healthy and gorgeous. I know they offer several species of captive bred fish and have some of the best prices I've seen. Just my 2 cents...
  9. Albino Blue-leg?

When I put them in two months ago I didn't notice him as being different from the rst but now in my tank I see a hermit that looks exactly like the blue-legs but instead of being blue w/red bands on the legs and yellow eyes he is light beige (almost white) with tan bands and pink eyes. Weird...
  10. What size pump?

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote What does it mean to have a closed loop? I have a clown-fish occelaris pair and a purple pseudo right now, not enough live rock, too shallow of a sand bed and soon some low-light corals! :-) Angela <><
  11. What size pump?

What size would be appropriate to go from a 10g refugium/sump to a 29g tank. Angela <><
  12. Can bristleworms harm your hand?

Oh I'm not talking about taking out a whole bunch. I just needed a dozen or so to trade to a lady for a big test kit since I'm poor and have no money. And that's the only thing I have at this point to trade. So instead of mushrooms or frags I hda to trade worms. Lol! Oh the looks I get in the...
  13. GSM Clown fish is disturbing my DSB, should I be worried?

Is she only or is there a male in with her? I know when preparing to breed clownfish will prepare nesting sites by cleaning them vigorously and often will prepare more then one before deciding which suites their purposes better. In fact, according to Joyce Wilkerson "Clownfishes", sometimes the...
  14. WooHoo - Corals on the way

Thanks BC, I really am looking forward to it becuase my Nitrates are a little high (I'm forced to use tap water at this point) and I'm told Macros can help with that. So you're timing couldn't be better! :-) Angela <><
  15. AUse of Instant Algae to feed newly hatched clownfish larvae

Have you read Clownfishes by Joyce Wilkerson? I know she recommends using rotifers for newly hatched larvae and raises cultures of them on greenwater to feed the first week or so (I'd have to look at the book again to be sure) and then baby brine after that when they are big enough. Not sure...
