  1. Gasket still leaking

Russ, My gasket was leaking because I was running way too much water pressure through it. Once I reduced the input pressure, there was no more problem. Vin
  2. having trouble registering for skimmer course

mattboy, I had the same problem. If you don't use the url http://www.reefs.org/maco/index.php to get to the main page, the log in won't always work.
  3. Attention NY Captal Area Reef Fanatics

Cool. I've been waiting for this to happen for a while.
  4. Filling for the first time...

Louey, Today I realized what you are talking about. The pvc fitting in the lid extends through the other side by about 1/2". Once the water gets to this level, there is no place for the air to go. The result is a 1/2" poclet of air at the top of the reactor. I got rid of some of the air by...
  5. Pressure max for gasket?

Good point. Currently I have the ro/di hooked into my sump through a float valve. If the float valve were to fail ... I don't even want to think about it. I guess this would be a good opportunity to better the situation. Thanks, Vin
  6. Pressure max for gasket?

Yes, I'm trying to use it as a kalk reactor. I have the ro/di output connected to the reactor pump plumbing. The bubble counter is completely bypassed. I spoke to the maker of my ro/di unit, and they said that the pressure is dropped to about 40-50 psi after going through the ro membrane, but...
  7. Pressure max for gasket?

8O 8O 8O Well that explains it. Then I only want to reduce the output pressure on one branch of the ro/di output. From what I understand, 70 psi is a good pressure to have going through the ro/di unit. Would a John Guest valve on the ro/di output being about 2/3 closed do the job, or is...
  8. Pressure max for gasket?

As it was filling, I left the output tube open until water started to come out of it. I then closed it off and waited for enough backpressure to develop to shut off the ro/di unit. It's ok for a few minutes once it's full, but I don't think it can handle the full 70 psi required to stop the...
  9. Pressure max for gasket?

Brian, I hole punched a new gasket perfectly and the reactor is still leaking with this gasket. It's hooked directly to the output of my ro/di unit which has water going through it at 70 psi. Is this amount of water pressure too much for the gasket to handle? Any recommendations? Thanks, Vin
  10. Filling for the first time...

The air should be forced out through the output tube at the top of the reactor. If you have the reactor configured as a closed system, open up the output until water starts coming out.
  11. Gasket still leaking

Thanks. I now have 10 chances to get this gasket right :) (they only sell them in packs of 10)
  12. Gasket still leaking

Brian, The vasaline didn't help the leaking gasket. it's probably because of the extra hole I had to create for it to fit. Could you give me the product # of the gasket at mcmaster carr (there's a million on their web site)? Or can I get one at home depot or a similar place? Thanks, Vin
  13. Where to find LDPE?

At home depot, it's usually in the aisle next to the pvc aisle. It's on a shelf next to the rolls of clear flexible tubing. I think it's sold for refrigerator ice makers. If you mention that, an employee may be able to help you.
  14. cobra flex tube

Brian, I was talking about the tube connected to the pump output that is pointing up. I'll see if home depot has longer tubes. The gasket is still leaking after applying vasaline. It must be because of the extra holes I had to make from screwing up the hole punch marks? Can I get a new gasket...
