Id be warry of adding any omnivore to combat algae. Especially one as mean and unpredictable as an emerald crab. They are just as likely to attack snails and other life rather then your algae. Once they get bigger, they will go after yuo fish.

Red Slime is cyano. Chemiclean makes a Red Slime remover that works very well. You have to make a large water change after you use it so keep it in mind.

If you are set on keeping all that flow, see if you can make some sort of ghetto baffle system out of pads in a chamber after the pumps. If it works, cut some acrylic strips to make something more permanent. Also try taking all the pads out and see if that works. Maybe all that flow being forced...
It really depends on what the particles are.
If they are air bubbles there are many simple mechanical solution to stop that.
If they are protein particles then skimmer will take them right out.
If it is sand you need to reposition whatever current is kicking it up.

Yeah these are perfect. I transported a bunch of corals and fish 400+ miles in tupperware in side of buckets. THey are pretty much made to transport wet and squish stuff. =)
