We are planning for and allowing walk-ins but we can't guarantee 100% that there will be space when you arrive. I'd say you'll "probably" be safe. We're having some excellent speakers and there will be some awesome raffle prizes, not to mention the frag auction. It's going to be a fun day!
  3. Rusted out impeller screw on my Vortech!

And apparently it is even beneficial when large amounts are placed in a canister or reactor! :biglaugh:
  4. Rusted out impeller screw on my Vortech!

That would be my feeling too.
  5. Rusted out impeller screw on my Vortech!

Even if it was rust, which I'm not sure that it is because I get the same deposit on the titanium impellar of my velocity pump, I would just vinegar soak it, clean it off and not worry about it. We put cups of phosban or rowaphos into our system and those are basically rust.
  6. Speeding recovery of bleach anemone

What Deanos said! Sounds like you already have it covered Veronique! What are you feeding it btw? There are many many options but finely chopped seafood would be best IMO.
  7. Sea hare toxicity

Like the others said they will soon starve in a tank that doesn't have a lush growth of macroalgae to keep them fed. They're okay to add "temporarily" to eliminate a hair algae epidimic but not a good idea to use them as part of a regular cleanup crew.
  8. Reef Nutrition Phyto Feast

Fish don't eat phytoplankton, although they may ingest it when inhaling. I think I saw that happen to Plankton on a Spongebob episode. =) Also, to reiterate, very few corals actually feed on phytoplankton and I doubt that any of them get a "good meal" from it. :eat:
  9. Powerheads ?

Aquaclears are dependable but not ideal for in-tank circulation IMO. Stick with Tunze(if you can swing them) or Seios for a broader stream from the pump.
  10. How's my plumbing? Help with a problem!

Excellent job IMO. The only thing I see is that I would run the pipes down closer to the bottom of the refugium and skimmer chambers instead of near the surface. Very nice.
  11. The Good News

    Awesome! Congrats.
  12. coral tanks?

Scott, I have no personal experience with them but these guys are fairly local: www.aquariumsforyou.com Might be worth it to at least get a quote. Miracles in Glass is a company that gets rave reviews for their tanks but they are in Canada. http://www.miraclesaquariums.com/
  13. Reef Nutrition Phyto Feast

Any changes that you saw to LPS corals were likely just a feeding response to something in the water as LPS corals don't actively feed on phytoplankton. It is theorized that some soft corals feed on phyto but even that remains unconclusive for the most part. As for fish loving phytoplankton...
  14. less than a month till baseball season

Jo....seeeeeeeeee..................Jose...Jose....Jo...se....Jo...se Can't wait. Lets Go Mets.
  15. co-pods and info

I assume you mean copepods and not co-pods? Also, will your new tank even have a cycle? If you are adding rock from an existing system to the new system I'm not sure why you would even have a cycle in the first place. Have you actually tested for ammonia and/or nitrite?
