  1. Is this setup OK?

I'm getting ready to set up a 58 gallon reef(36x18x21). The tank will hold mostly sps corals. Is this sump/refugium a good design? Do the returns look good? The tank will have 2 drains one is a 1" and the other is a 3/4". The sump will have 2 return pumps pushing about 1057 gph each(ViaAqua...
  2. 24 Gallon Nanocube

JBJ has been keeping their sales staff in the dark about what the size is going to be, other than it being 24 gallons. One guy at JBJ said it should be close to 19"x19"x19". I have no idea on the cost. My guess is around $250 if it comes with fans. Thanks, Tice
  3. 24 Gallon Nanocube

I was down at my LFS and they had a sign reading 24 gallon Nanocube coming soon. I called JBJ and they confirmed the 24 gallon cube is coming out soon, sometime in November. They said the cube would have 2x36 lights and have a higher intake to keep the scum off the top of the water. Pretty...
  4. 12gal Nano Cube...lighting mod question?

Another way to upgrade is to just add a second stock 24watt light. This way you can still us the reflecter and mount the second ballast side by side the first. It is a tight fit, but after removing the original lights mounting brackets you can fit both lights side by side. Once you screw down...
  5. Aptasia in my Nano?

I noticed the other night that my 12 gallon nanocube is home to three very small aptasia. They are all near the bottom of a piece of LR and are hard to get to. I have tried getting to them with hair tweezers but they are out of reach. What would be the best way to rid my tank of these little...
  6. What Skimmer?

Thanks for the info. It seems the euroreef skimmer is going to be the one. I really haven't heard anything bad and everyone seems to think it is one of the better and easiest skimmers out there. Thanks, Tice
  7. Nano-Reef at 5 months.......

Looks great. I like all the color over the black sand. Thanks, Tice
  8. What Skimmer?

What is the best protein skimmer? I am looking at doing a 58 or 75 gallon reef tank with a 30 gallon sump/refugium. I have been looking at different types, but would like to know what has worked and what hasn't from others. I seem to be intesest in the Tunze or Euroreef series skimmers. Any...

Homemade Skimmer. It looks cheesee, but so far it is working. Thanks, Tice

Here is a picture of the hood with the second light. I was able to mount both ballasts side by side under the reflector. Fitting both lights under the splash guard was a little tricky. I had to remove the light clips that hold the stock one in place. With a little stuffing I was able to fit...

I haven't added a small fan to it yet, but I do have a house fan blowing on the tank with the lid open during the day. The temperature is hanging right around 80-81. Without a fan on it, it would easily be around 85 or more. I plan on adding a small fan to the hood soon. Thanks, Tice

Yeah, I ended up adding a second 24watt 50/50 stock light. I was able to mount the second ballast next to first and lights are tight side by side. I will send some pictures of the hood this weekend. Thanks, Tice

Thanks Taz I have been feeding the tank DT's Live Phytoplankton 2-3 times a week and brine shrimp twice a week. I don't know if the brine shrimp is doing anything but the fish sure tear into it. Thanks, Tice
