  1. Frags for sale

Were you Fragsunlimited? They were in my saves; I'm just curious what happened to them?
  2. Pencil wrasse ?

I've seen Kevin have them, and was tempted. Perhaps one day.
  3. How many reef ugrades and down grades have you done

Started in 1/03 with a 15g xtratall; the tank ran on only the largest Hagan hob with a sponge. A person bet me their store that his family owned that the tank wouldn't last a year so I kept it going for 2 yrs, when I upgraded it to a 72. (this Newburgh family store closed several years ago---I...
  4. What is this growing on my rock

Pineapple Sponges look a lot like little pineapples: they are football shaped (rugby ball), white, with a don king tuff on top around the open. These are another common sponge.
  5. Pump efficiency

I ran two mj's on my 40; I ported them out through two tlf rx's mounted on the mt.
  6. New ATO

I mount mine so the Pex connection is vertical, for something to get in it it would have to crawl out of the water, upside down across the holder, and down. I top off with lime; it will clog after having the ball valve off for a while that stops flow between the reservoir and float that a small...
  7. New ATO

You are talking about "float sensors" they differ big time from "float valves." It's sooo much harder for a float valve to fail because it relys on mechanics and not electronics!
  8. 2 questions

Unless you used the lifeless boxed rock, use the lights. Some of my flow is on a timer this tank around, but this something new to what I was doing for 10 years before this one.
  9. New ATO

It looks nice but, all said and done, for a sump application I can't see how this is more reliable than an aqualifter and a regular old $8 float valve.
  10. Gold torch

    Whoa, bad joojoo alert!
  11. are mur-lok parts available locally?

JG is another brand; it's perhaps the best connectors. You might find Watts fittings also. These will be by the brass fittings and other Pex type connectors.
  12. Water Storage and Mixing container

Here's my humble but useful in cabinet station: I plumb from basement plant to the stand, one side is for top off, the other make up water. Each side has its own float valve so I don't have to remember to turn off the valve; there is a valve that I use so that the lime top off isn't continuely...
  13. need help on starting up my 90 gallon reef ready tank

Opinions vary. 6x is my bottom end; it will leave room for the plumbing to become restricted with time. You probably want to at least try to match your skimmers turnover, for me it's as much about energy use as it is giving the waste in suspension a good chance of going down the drain. Iif I can...
  14. need help on starting up my 90 gallon reef ready tank

Gravity head preasure is measured from water surface to water surface. One must also figure in losses due to friction; this is a calculation done by multiplying the length of actual pipe by the its friction loss per hundred feet at a specific flow rate. The equivelent length of all fittings must...
  15. 120 gallon build help

To start, I would advise thinking again about the mag pump as others have said, but also rethink the turn key sump; building a sump is a rather easy thing. You will also want to get an RO plant. You need to plan, design, make stand room for top off and water change storage reservoirs. I missed...
