  1. A matter of personal opinion

Quite contrary to the senior above me, Ive always believed that more flow is better flow. IMO helps keeps detritus suspended, and helps the socks catch more junk. Skimmer will pull it out eventually if you never let it settle. Matter of opinion indeed. Let us know what you go with.
  2. WTB: 6 Bulb t5 Fixture, 48 in: 54W

Looking to buy a 6 bulb t5 fixture for my 90. It MUST be a 54W fixture, and have a stand. PM if youre looking to get rid of a fixture. TIA.
  3. I never rinsed my "sugar sand"...

^^^ I agree with peteyboyny. Although youve managed to clean the sand, cyano and other gunk may still persist. If this is the case, to keep things clean get an animal that lightly turns over the sand. Certain gobies are good, sand sifting conch work well too, and of course, the snails. Hope all...
  4. ID Please: Red growth in sump

I saw that but I wasnt sure that this was it. So its macro algae then? I just took my phosphate reactor down so we'll see how long it lasts... Thanks for the input.
  5. ID Please: Red growth in sump

  7. Clownfish's poop is white and stringy?

The best you can do is keep an eye on it and see if the fish takes a sudden turn for the worse, then you can assess what it is you want to do, unless you can find out exactly whats wrong (if there is something wrong). For now make sure the fish just keeps eating, and update if something gets...
  8. Boxfish's 90RR upgrade :)

mystery wrasse is such a good choice imo if you have no shrimp. Theyre cool looking, and all seem to have personality.
  9. black sand

Even though I know youre not interested in black sand anymore, I did hear that there was iron or something in some of the black sand brands that was indeed magnetic. Also I feel that with black sand your lights are less effective because theres less reflection..but that could just be me....good...
  10. Tank Under Attack!!

I think im late on the wrasse train but the christmas wrasse is really cool and is part of the halichoeres family. Way cooler than the melanurus imo
  11. How to get rid of Red Slime Algae

^^^it is a fight you WILL win. I also only run my lights for 7 hours now as opposed to the 10 or 11 I used to run before... I really couldnt tell the difference but I can only logically think that it did make a difference...I also started to run my fuge light 24h a day in hopes to create a...
  12. How to get rid of Red Slime Algae

It seems like we have the same problem, my issue started maybe 2 months ago, I basically did everything you did, except I never used chemicals. I'm beginning to win the fight by using gfo. However I saw the biggest change once I began stocking up nassarius snails and sand sifting conches...
  13. What was your first coral?

    Gsp!!!!
  14. Best way to add sand to a new system?

If you have a large container to rinse the sand in Ive had success by using an hob filter with only filter floss in it to get rid of the dust in the water. I stir the container lightly every once in a while to avoid sand getting pulled into the filter. Just something i thought might help.
