Post your MH
Put them longwise fron to back...so you can see the bulbs. This way you get the best coverage. If you have a hood I would mount them on the inside.

sea swirl and light issue
I have 2, 3/4" SS with a dual 250 w mh problem. Absolutely no heating issues with them.

Sump Design - Please tell me where you see mistakes
WHen you say "This will be placed outside.". Do you mean that literally? As in outside of your house? If so you will encounter huge problems there.
