Excellent post, so true, in a price war everyone is a loser. I personally think life stock is too cheap and many hobbyists treat them like disposable items.
Collection should be stopped as they are being collected by the thousand and most of them die due to some disease,
I have imported over a 1000 from various exporters and generally I get then same result that they die within a few weeks with some disease.
I say stop the collect as it is...

My experience on packing is that shipments are over packed from LA/Hawaii compared to shipments from Indonesia.
So far most shipments have a very low DOA rate, almost zero even when packing is tight.
The tighter shipments do take longer to acclimatize.

Clams were fine for a week and then started to die off. also killed of some of my clams that i had for over 3 years.
I beleive a good t5s unit will give you more than enough light for many hard corals.
Metal halides are bright under the bulb, however on the sides they are about the same as a t5.
check out Iwans tank. uses only t5s and he has hard corals down low...
