Yes CC is nothing but a nutrient trap. Now about the feedings? What are you feeding exactly? How many fish? I have few fish and feed about 2 times per week.

BTW, do the red patched look raised up in any way or even with the body? Ph ? Really ? Why is that ?

I've always been told that stiring a DSB was bad. That you would destroy the different arobic and anarobic layers of the DSB and possibly the critters. I've also been told that burroing fish were a bad idea for the same reasons.

reefnutz, Well, the nitrogen bubbles I see in my DSB aresn't in the upper 1-3cm.... Why is that? If what your sayiong is correct shouldnt the bubbles only be in the top layer??

I use a blue part light bulb, and extention cord and adcapter to screw the light bulb into the extention cord. $5.00 at most. the bulbs are a bit cheapy and you'll have to change them every 2 months or so, not that they'll die out but the blue color painted onto it fades....

In emergencies (ie: when I'm to lazy to go get water ) I use tap water with a double dose of prime. Never had a prob, but again I dont always do that. The water in my area tends to be very good though....

That a huge temp swing but they should be ok, how long were they exposed to the low temps? You shoud bump the temp by a few degrees every couple of hours or so... If you bump the heater back to normal you'll be exposing them to yet another huge temp swing...

In a 10g water quality can take a turn for the worst very quickly. CC is a very bad idea. Idealy you would want a DSB but thats not realistic, you wouldnt have room for much of anything else.
