  1. Will a freshwater pH test kit work for salt water?

Basically, what I was trying to say is: At SMS, those who don't use the right testkit have big problems as a result.
  2. doing project for school need peoples ages

Fish are no more expensive then college sweethearts, a fish tank is a date waiting to happen: 1) clean the tank together, 2) look at the tank together, 3) go shopping for fish food together.
  3. Will a freshwater pH test kit work for salt water?

retry. The situation: One of the girls, while doing an experiment for class, tried using my salt water test kit to adjust her water, as needed. She had left her test kit for fresh water in the car and didn't want to go get it. The results: She started getting inconsistent data after this...
  4. doing project for school need peoples ages

23 I wouldn't think most people would start a tank before upper high school. Some may have parents with a tank, but it tends to be an expensive hobby.
  5. Definition of "overfeeding" ?

Over feeding causes other problems, too. Of course, the key is to learn all you can about your tank inhabitants. I agree that the first question would be "how well established is your tank aka how long has it been set up.. how many fish.. etc etc"
  6. Is everyone testing as much as before?

I test a lot less at both school and home, at home - everything is beautiful and happy. I could tell if something was off. My test kit is still pulled out for company and such to see that the tank has X about of this. School still quite a bit more, as the filter died and a totally new thing...
  7. pic of my new 72G Bowfront Setup

Beautiful as always! I bet your fish are feeling pretty happy right now.
  8. beautiful bristle worm

There was the most beautiful bristle worm I have ever seen in the smsu tank. The filter died a horrible death and I had to move everything to other tanks till we order another or get replacement parts. I showed everyone at school, but no one seemed very excited in the bio dept (so I thought...

  10. Maroon clown kicking up DSB

Do you have something for your clowns to rub its body in (besides the sand)? It irritates some soft corals, but there are quite a few things that can get used to it, depending on what you want to try .
  11. 40 gal

How much tank experience have you had? A lot of people manage anemones and its definetly an advantage if you can keep other things alive. Your clown doesn't NEED an anemone, there are soft corals it may cuddle up to. Clowns are typically very hardy, Fred (maroon) could withstand nuclear...
  12. ** Say "Hi!" to our new moderator! **

    Congrats! Wonderful
  13. Top Ten Signs you are a Reef Addict

How about .. you start to tell a really funny fish story and everyone looks at you so oddly that you just give up, then go to your LFS or the board where people laugh. People of the oppisite sex know the days that you do a water change and conviently come by, because you consider an acceptable...
  14. how to put down a fish humanely ?

I came in on some of the other students putting fish in cold water and they went into shock in minutes, making my lecture last about 30 - of course, it was being done in the name of science rather then being a good fish keeper. I wouldn't quite call it pleasent and quick. If I had to pick a...
  15. OK- My CLICKING noise

I think I'm just paranoid, but thanks . I don't think cherry bombs would mix well with an anemone and the corals, thought the maroon clown could live through a nuclear fallout .
