  1. FREE all-in-one tank and stand - Bronx ASAP

how much after 4pm? PM me your info. i'm a couple minutes off the gun hill road exit on the bronx river parkway.
  2. FREE all-in-one tank and stand - Bronx ASAP

Hi, I'm moving and need to get rid of an all-in-one tank and stand ASAP. I forget the brand, but the overall dimensions are 18 x 18 x 24 in (roughly 33 gallons). I had it set up really nice at one time, but it became an algae farm and I just don't have time for it anymore... Here are the...
  3. Basic LED build

nice build! same price (or less) than the cheap fixtures, but all good quality components (cree, meanwells), and you know how to fix it if something goes wrong! i had a few questions: 1) i don't really understand how to dim the meanwells. my understanding was that a potentiometer was not...
  4. I Tried :)

are you using a tripod when you take these pics? if not, that would make a huge difference. try using the 'timer' feature on your camera too, so you're not touching/shaking the camera when it's taking the picture. for the top-down shots, you said you turned off the returns, but do you have any...
  5. All in ones..

a little smaller than what you are looking for, but the cadlights 22g is 23.75"L x 14.25"W x 14.5"H. the old cadlights 34g was ~24x18x18 (4" of the front-to-back 18" is the rear compartment), not quite a cube, but less long then what you are looking for... i always wondered why nobody sells...
  6. any good camera

    *sigh*
  7. any good camera

I thought you wanted the camera primarily for macro photography. While the Nikon D5000 may be a good choice, that specific package does not include a single macro lens (what Nikon calls Micro-Nikkor lenses). On the plus side, you do get 2 tripods, 2 bags, and 3 SD cards, and tons of extra junk...
  8. maxspec led

knugenx: oh that would be nice to save a few bucks... names aside, do you know how much they paid (and for which model)?
  9. maxspec led

as a side point, i've been trying to follow the different LED threads on RC and MR and have been so frustrated just trying to get good comparative data. it just seems like nobody is comparing apples to apples, when it comes to LED vs MH vs T5, or comparing different LED's to each other. it's...
  10. maxspec led

E.intheC - as far as i can tell, the prices on fish-street.com are the current "retail" prices for these fixtures, but to get the effective final price for us in NY, you need to add them to your cart and see how much shipping is. when i checked, the So-Cal group buy prices were better when you...
  11. WTB: Small refugium light for nano

thanks, i might end up going this route, except using a junction box with some reflective material inside (i don't think that big reflector will fit very easily between the tank and the wall). i was hoping for something a little nicer-looking, but for me frugality usually trumps style in the end...
  12. maxspec led

I am thinking of getting the G2-110 myself. There's a group buy being arranged by a southern CA club (deadline March 22). I PM'ed the group buy organizer (see following thread) and they said it is open to anybody. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1803879 Link to group-buy...
  13. WTB: Small refugium light for nano

Hi, I'm looking for a small/cheap used refugium light for an all-in-one nano tank, preferably something I can mount vertically against the (clear) back wall rather than horizontally on top of the refugium. I just need something that will grow some chaeto... maybe ~10 watts. Thanks
  14. Has anyone saved there "cord blood" from there baby

This seems to be a pretty good discussion of the pros and cons: http://www.webmd.com/parenting/baby/features/banking-your-babys-cord-blood My personal opinion is the odds are so low that it will ever be used that unless you're a millionaire and will never miss the money, it could probably be...
  15. SCUBA Pics

i know, i was impressed, which is why i tried to figure out which camera it was after i rented it. i'm pretty sure it was a sea & sea housing with a generic/unlabelled ricoh point-and-shoot inside (i think it was a dx5000g housing with a ricoh caplio GX? inside). the housing had an external...
