I also agree, stress can be a contributer to a split.
But, now that you say that about seasonal.... Both of my BTA's have split in the past month. I have had them in the tank for almost a year with no action (except getting larger) and then they both split within a week or so. One of them...
Speaking of a clown and clam.....
I remember Tropicorium used to have a ....guess..... 24" Derasa that had a clown inside the mantle. That was pretty cool. Not sure if it ever came out but I remember everytime I was there over the period of months it was always inside.

I once kept a small painter turtle in my fresh water tank for about six months. He was smaller than a 50 cent piece when I got him. He grew very quickly and I had to release him after he started chasing all of my fish. It was pretty cool to actually see their behavior. He used to lodge...
My last batch of banggai babies happened while I was gone. When I came home the babies were buried in my hammer coral brushing the tentacles. They were very difficult to catch with them hiding in there like that. I also heard this was typical behavior but I sure didn't know about it.

My Banggai had his first set of fry on April 4th. He had 9 babies of which I have six left. I set up a 20 gallon refugium tank that they are in. The parents quickly went back at it and I will have another batch any day now. My question is can I put both batches together or is this a problem...
What kind of lighting do you have? Xenia needs high light and could just be dying off. Also, check your PH cause they will also degrade in low PH. It is also said Iodine is important for their success.
good luck
Another possibility is to super glue over the dying area and some a portion of the living tissue around the infected area to stop the spreading. Then move to the higher current areas.
good luck.
I have found that the green ones don't seem to need as much light as yellow or orange and are very slow growers. I have some in a partially shaded area. If they were doing fine and now they seem to be bleaching where there is the most light I would ask if anything has changed? Did you...
At what point is a frag considered captive raised? A wild colony comes in and is fraged, I think most would agree that this is not captive raised. But, is second generation considered captive? I'm willing to bet most large companies that are advertising/selling captive raised corals are just...
Reefing is a great escape or stress reliever for me. I start cleaning my tank and the next thing I know it's like four hours later. My house may be a total mess, my lawn may not me mowed or raked, my clothes may ne dirty but my tank looks good.

Yeah, I agree.... Kirtis=John@Caroline. Same tone and topics with the quickly cycled tanks and purposeful flame questions. Also, other new names on the board arguing with him/himself.
