1. Can I add NJ live sand

"I was wondering if it would be safe if I added several pounds of sand from the ocean or bay to seed my sand." Each year myself and the family go down to wildwood. I have collected RMA, a ton of small clams along with some sand. Nothing bad has happened to my tank. The stuff I collect always...
2. Need quick lighting help buying it right now online

Go with the 10,000. The 12,000 are not that good. I hsd them a switched to the 10,000
3. skimmer replacement (let the battles begin)

Stay away from the Berlin Turbo. I had one and called up Red Sea and got the parts to make it a true classic. I know of at least 6 other people on other boards that did the same thing. Take care Mike
4. Berlin Turbo Skimmer

The turbo is junk. Call Red Sea and they will send you the parts needed to convert it to a classic, which is a great skimmer. Take care, Mike
5. High pH

Ernie, Well here in NJ we do things a little different, as you know You have to get you alk up, I would go to 4-5 meq/l. Also you pH is not all that high. Take care. Mike
6. Iron for your caulerpa?

I had it to my tank. I have a 150gal tank and I add it at half what Kent says on the bottle. I also add it once a month directly to my refugium, the macros love it. But the stuff is like fertilizer to all algae, so beware. Dose very, very low. Take care, Mike
7. Where to get Maxijet accessories?

I know they sell them on www.petwarehouse.com, or you can just get a foam block and make you own, that's what I did. Take care, Mike

Ok, well I looked at the original post. This is what I am taking as known. Two bulk heads in the tank, one to the pump and one to return water from the pump. The pump is 4 feet below the tank. I am assuming that the pump is rated for 1000 GPH. I only have one 90 elbow in it to turn back into...

Hmm, guess the manufacture of the canister filter better email you and correct his product specs. I asked them straight out, empty cannister, both tubes in a tank, straight runs. Does head pressure effect your pump. They said yes. They gave me the max heads I talked about. Maybe I just don't...

Yea, we here in Jersey do things different. I also took my college physics in Mass, so that can be two states. I called a pump maker kinda. It was for a canister filter, it's a closed system according to you.I think it is a good model based on your "closed loop." I was given two different MAX...

Interesting arguement. What type of heat do you have in your house. I have base board hot water, and depending on the type of house you have, ranch or anytype with a 2nd floor, the higher up the water has to go, you have to get a bigger pump due to increased head pressure. You have to figure...

But, this is not a "closed loop system." So you do have to figure head pressure for the return from the floor to the tank.
quote:
Originally posted by esmithiii: Remember that for a closed loop system, the only...
