You need to read more carefully.
Lars Sabrella rinsed his sample before testing, we did not. These were two independent tests and they obtained very similar results.

Good catch! It was peer-reviewed, but this slipped through. I went back and compared against my original datasheets for every element and you are correct.
The values for Manganese and Lead should be in PPB, not PPM. I have already contacted the RDO staff to have them correct the...
I think part two, where we try to spell out what this all means, will generate more discussion. Part one all by itself reads a little dry - pretty much just numbers.
If you check around on other boards you will find Ron Shimek dismissing it and Michael Del Prette (sp?) criticising it. He even...
Several tests were moved to the end of the article because there was no significant difference between the salts. Those tests won't show up until part two next month. In those tests are things like Calcium and Magnesium which all tested exactly at the levels you would expect. So it may be...
A little preview of part two...
The biggest single difference is formula changes in Instant Ocean. Dr. Shimek used data from 1999, it was a totally different salt when he did his study in 2003.
Also, keep in mind the levels we are talking about here. The difference between 4ppb and 8ppb...
The comment I made about being 3/4 done included some older salts. We are now working to get recent samples since even I did not expect it would be this long before we completed the testing.
The salt list is:
AquaCraft Bio-Sea Marinemix
Aqua Medic Sea Salt
Instant Ocean
Kent Sea Salt
MEI Crystal Sea Marinemix
MEI Crystal Sea Marinemix Bio-Assay
Oceanic Sea Salt
Omega Sea Marine Salt
Tropic Marin Sea Salt
Hello all!
As someone mentioned, I no longer regularly monitor this forum, so I apologize for not posting more frequently.
I have received assurances from the folks of Reefs.org that they will publish the results and assume any liability. In addition, I have hired back a former Inland Reef...

I appreciate the offer, but in reality, the testing is about 3/4 or more completed. When I referred to putting this "on hold" pending the outcome of the threatened lawsuit, I was primarilly referring to the publication of results.
Just to keep the record straight, I first proposed...

I will not get into the details in a public forum, but I will go so far as to say that it doesn't matter whether a salt manufacturer is involved or not.
I can not proceed with publishing further test results while the threat of a lawsuit exists over previously published results. If...
You are correct that truth is a valid defense against a claim of defamation. However, it does not prevent you from being sued. As I said before, there is no chance a lawsuit will be successful on it's merits, but one can incur thousands of dollars in defense costs before the merits ever come...
Yes, it is ridiculous. Welcome to the US legal system where anyone can sue anyone for any reason. And in 39 of the 50 states there is no penalty of any kind for bringing a meritless suit meant only to intimidate a victim who can't afford to pay for a defense.
And yes, the plantiff's state is...
I recently exchanged emails with Len about the status of the salt study and he has asked me to post here.
However, there is only a limited amout of information I can give out at this time.
In short, the study is on hold because I have been threatened with a lawsuit from one of the companies...
