    It takes time and stability, more than anything. Once it gets going it will become the new PITA for ya, scrape scrape scrape because you cant see in the tank. :D

    Yes carbon does take elements out of the water, but you can run it all the time as many do. Imo if you keep up with your water change schedule and change out the carbon at regular intervals you will be fine.

The others are so closed off to air circulation, one has to wonder what that would do for things like heat, PH, etc. and where does all the evap. go under those enclosed plastic lids? And what does evap. do to the light fixture in those hoods in the long term, prolly a fair...
  11. Carbon

    Could be the RO filters need changed, how does the RO water from your filter test out as far as nitrates and phosphates? You could run carbon and phosphate removal media to help reduce some of the nutrients, if you are not already. Heavy skimming helps as well, again if your not already doing so.
