The post was saying that the 6 seconds increases alkalinity consumption by the hard corals. I'm giving that A go and will report findings. Day three shows soft corals looking plumper.

if all that is true, your cousin should try to see if he can be credited with first catching it.

How are your corals? Run fresh carbon. Water change was good move. If you checked your phosphates, what were they? +1 on the lights, did you change lighting recently? Corals can get light-shock. Even changing your bulbs on a T5 or Halide can really shock certain corals.

Some crazy suggestions on here... You just need to tune your system better. Without testing your water you're just guessing. Are you running algae in the sump/refugium? Run algae with a strong light, it'll out compete that crap hopefully. Nutty talk to try adding phyto until the tank goes dark...
